Staying Faithful in ourGlobal Mission
Dear Vineyard ColumbusFamily,
Over the years, VineyardColumbus has been a church marked by extraordinary generosity and deep commitment to the mission of Jesus — not only here at home, but across the globe. Together, we’ve helped plant churches, raise up local leaders, and bring the good news of Jesus to places where very few have ever heard His name.
In fact, just last year alone, Vineyard Columbus gave over 22% of our total income to outward-facing mission — an astounding number that includes both local and global impact. That support went to 17 missionaries and families serving around the world, many of whom were sent directly from our church community.
That commitment remains. But this past year, we’ve also had to face the hard realities of our financial situation. As we shared earlier this year, we’ve taken major steps to bring our budget into alignment with a sustainable future. These steps have affected every area of our ministry, including missions.
Moving forward, we are going to give our first 10% of all general giving to mission work — still a generous and uncommon standard compared to most churches. But this also means we have to reduce our direct support to some missionaries, particularly whereVineyard Columbus was funding a large share of their total budget.
We are heartbroken about these changes. Some of these missionaries are dear friends and partners who have served faithfully for years. Our team is walking alongside them — offering care, encouragement, and time to transition well.
What hasn’t changed is our vision.
We remain fully committed to sending missionaries to unreached people groups, supporting the development of indigenous leaders, and caring for the individuals and families we send. We will continue to give through special offerings and Kingdom Builders to support global work above and beyond our base tithe.
And this is where you come in.
If you’ve never financially supported a missionary before, now is a critical moment. Many of our missionaries will need new partners. If God is stirring your heart, I want to personally invite you to learn more by attending our upcoming Wednesday Global Event - 11/19 @ 6:30pm at the Westerville campus, or by reaching out to our GlobalMission Pastor, Ximena Holle (ximena.holle@vineyardcolumbus.org).
This is a season that calls for both faith and wisdom. Let’s remain a church that sends — and sustains —for the long haul.
