On this Mother’s Day, we pause together to honor the beautiful, meaningful, and deeply important gift of motherhood. Motherhood is a gift that touches every part of life shaping families, communities, and the next generation. That’s why we take time to reflect on this calling and the deep, meaningful role mothers play in God’s story.
From the days of the early church, the home was seen as the “domestic church”. The first place where faith is lived out and passed on. Since then, mothers have played a vital, God-given role in nurturing life, forming faith, and helping families and communities flourish. It is a sacred calling that reflects aspects of God’s own heart—his creativity, his comfort, his fierce protection, and his steadfast love.
Mothers reflect God’s heart in a world that is longing for healing, belonging, and purpose.
Honoring mothers means more than a Sunday of flowers or kind words. It means offering real support. Whether a mom is married or single, fostering, adopting, parenting spiritually, or raising biological children. Life is complicated. Many families are under stress. Many women are doing this work alone or in difficult circumstances.
We long to be a community where the next generation can thrive. A place where mothers and fathers, mentors and spiritual parents walk together in mutual support. A place that reflects God’s sheltering love, especially for the most vulnerable. And a place where single mothers are not just seen but supported, and where women without biological children are recognized and celebrated as spiritual mothers.
As we celebrate, we also recognize that Mother’s Day can bring grief and pain. For those who have lost a mother, or those who have lost a child. We grieve with you. For those carrying the weight of infertility or broken relationships, your sorrow is real, and it matters. This community is here to hold space for your story, to walk with you gently, and to remind you that you are not alone.
Biological, adoptive, foster, spiritual motherhood is a holy calling. This Mother’s Day let’s honor that calling not only with our words, but with the way we live and love. Let’s be the kind of church that reflects the heart of God, strong, gentle, nurturing, and full of hope for the future.
To every woman who gives life, nurtures life, or protects life we see you, honor you, and lift you up in love and prayer.
