What is a Recovery
Group?

For those experiencing the grip of addictive, compulsive, and/or destructive behaviors -- substance addiction, codependency, emotional eating, sexual addiction, workaholism, gambling addiction, self-harm, to name but a few -- the road to becoming healthy and “normal” again can seem impossible to tread.

That is where the Body of Christ comes in. Within Christian recovery groups, people who are further along this road toward health and restoration come alongside those just beginning the journey in a structured and supportive manner. Recovery groups at Vineyard Columbus are led by trained volunteers who are there to help minister insight, healing, and spiritual growth to those struggling with addictions or compulsions, with the goal of returning a person to health and restoring that which has been lost or stolen. Some groups are time-limited and follow a set curriculum, while others are ongoing and focus on the present needs of the participants.

Recovery groups are not the same as clinical group therapy sessions, nor are they a substitute for professional treatment provided by a clinically trained and licensed provider, though they can often augment professional treatment.

To find a recovery group, or to discuss the possibility of leading one, currently, running groups can be found here, or contact Support for Life.
