Vineyard Columbus has a long history of serving alongside many churches, nonprofits, and community services addressing the needs of those who have been homeless or who for various reasons may be transitioning from temporary and/or dangerous living arrangements to stable housing. Over the years, we’ve noticed that a gap exists in the network of available community resources for families and individuals when it comes to household items. Through the generous gifts of Vineyard’s members, Transitions Ministry was launched in spring 2016.
Transitions Ministry provides free basic home goods for vulnerable people transitioning to housing: homeless families, those freed from human trafficking or fleeing domestic violence, men and women re-entering society after incarceration, resettled refugees and homeless veterans.
We have invited our partners, including community agencies, primarily working with those vulnerable populations, to apply in concert with their clients for these household items.
The Columbus Dispatch highlighted a story about Vineyard Columbus’ work. Please see - http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/local/2016/03/21/1-transition-help.html
