"We were asked to pray for someone's healing. I had a guard at the correction facility tell me how he had pain from broken ribs and a damaged disc in his neck. He had pain in his shoulder and neck, tingling in his arm, and a patch on his arm that felt like it was on fire. I asked if I could pray with him and he said, 'Yes.'"
"I prayed and invited the Holy Spirit to come and asked God to bring His kingdom into this man's body. At first nothing happened, but I told the man how Jesus had to pray twice for one man's eyes, so I asked if I could pray again."
"After the second time, the tingling was gone and the hot patch was better. He still had pain, so we blessed what God was doing and prayed again. Nothing else happened immediately, so we thanked God for what he had done, asked Him to continue to work in this man's body."
Great story Jon!

My life before Jesus was characterized by hurt and pain, depression, hopelessness. I was also a people pleaser. I met Jesus in a hospital room in 2001, where a leader from the church I was going to at the time helped me to pray the sinner's prayer to accept Christ into my heart and life. The way I have changed after meeting Jesus is I was delivered from hopelessness. Jesus has given me peace, life and a sense of purpose and gave me freedom from the approval of others so that I can be free to please only Him.Continue reading »

My life before encountering Jesus was a confusing, often dark place. I was an atheist. I believed that I was in control of my life trajectory -- my career, my love life, my future. I believed that it was my own willpower, my own strength, that would bring me a happy and meaningful life. But, as is always the case in finding freedom in Jesus, that version of my story was far from the truth.
I encountered Jesus through a friend and co-worker, a follower of Christ, who said these simple words to me. He said, "Corbin, I don't know what is going on in your life, personally or at work, but whatever it is, God wants me to tell you that everything is going to be okay." Immediately I was struck by a fierce emotional reaction to those words spoken over me. My throat closed up and I knew I was about to break down and sob. I couldn't believe it. I was stronger than that. What was wrong with me? It took everything I had to not breakdown and cry in front of this man. Then, he asked to pray for me outside. I said okay, and he began to pray for me. I decided, I can either let all of this in, or run further from it. I didn't like what the other path looked like so I accepted Jesus into my life. My friend prayed for me for a good long hour as I began to lament to God. The sky opened up and I was speaking directly to my maker. My body quaked with energy. I screamed, "I'm just trying so hard!!" and was immediately filled with answers, and peace. Of course, I can't do anything without God. I can try as hard as I can, but God is the one with all the power. Then I said, "I just didn't know!!". This was in response to God's overwhelming presence. I didn't know that he was a LIVING God. Breathing life into every single moment. It was an incredible experience.
Now, I feel that God has a plan for my life. That his will is better than mine. That anything outside of God is not worthwhile. I feel at peace in his plan for me. I trust his son, Jesus Christ, with my life and give thanks to his sacrifice because it is ONLY through his blood shed for me that I am able to breathe new life, that I am able to be forgiven for my sins. The incredible realization that I have now is that not only was I not in control of my life all along, but, in fact, my life was controlled by false Idols -- lust, gluttony, greed, pride -- to name a few! Now I can give these over to God and find healing in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ that I no longer have to bear these sins, but that I am loved, and forgiven, and given new life in him. I am free in God's love.Continue reading »
