Gospel of God

Welcome!

Posted on August 30, 2013

Hey everyone! Welcome to the Gospel of God page here at Vineyard Columbus.org.

We wanted to give you a brief overview of what this series & page are all about. At the beginning of September, we began a 16 week sermon series called The Gospel of God where we’re digging into the book of Romans where the Apostle Paul lays out the gospel – the good news of Jesus Christ.

We have three big goals that we are praying for during this series:

1. That we would know and experience in a deeper way the good news of Jesus – the gospel – for our lives personally. That we’re loved and accepted by God not because of what we’ve done but because of what God has done for us in Jesus.

2. That we would gain a new passion for sharing the gospel with others, as well as some tools to help us do this.

3. We want to see the difference the gospel makes in our everyday lives - at home, at work, and in our neighborhoods – and then live it out!

So to help us towards these goals, we’ve developed a great small group study written by our pastors and leaders here at Vineyard Columbus that we’re encouraging all of our small groups to participate in. We want to do this together!

In addition, we’ve created, what we think, is an exciting line-up of seminars to help equip us to share our faith and live out the gospel more fully in our everyday lives – from everything to being a better neighbor to learning how the Holy Spirit empowers us to share the gospel. You can find all of these events under the Events section of the Gospel of God page.

Gospel of God Weekly Challenges. You’ve may have heard a few of these so far during our weekend services, but the weekly challenge is a practical way each week that we can all engage in living out the gospel in our daily lives. Every week we will be posting these with some creative ways on how to do them. Check out the Weekly Challenges section for more details.

A part of the Gospel of God page that we’re really excited about is the Spotlight Stories section. That’s where we’ll be sharing the stories that you share with us at These are stories connected to the Weekly Challenges or something else cool that has happened connected to the Gospel of God series.

In addition, the Resources tab will include Bible studies and other resources that will be mentioned in sermons, blog posts, or other articles.

Finally, the Blog section is going to include blogs written by our pastors and leaders on topics connected to the series, articles highlighting upcoming events, spotlight stories, Bible studies, and more. Make sure to check back every week to see what’s new on the Blog section!

Thanks for taking the time to look around!

What is the gospel of God to me?

The gospel is our salvation and all that it entails. I liken it to the scene in the movie Titanic, where the elderly Rose (played by Gloria Stuart) said of the young Jack Dawson (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) “He saved me in every way a person can be saved.” That He for me is Jesus. Jesus saved me in every way a person can be saved.

In response to the question posed during the recent message; "what does the gospel mean (to you)?" For me, it means forgiveness, hope, redemption and peace. The good news is Truth. I no longer have to search for "wholeness" - the longing to find something in this world that will allow me to "fit in." Jesus has forgiven me and I'm no longer trapped in a pit. Hope provides me with the knowledge that another day comes with the promise of His word. Redemption means I'm no longer the man I used to be and that people can and do change because of God's grace. Peace is knowing that above all, no matter how bad the sin, or how much it hurts, surrendering to Him means my name is in the book of life - and that's forever!

My interpretation of the Gospel of God:

"The Gospel of God is the assurance of the forgiveness of sin, the gift of grace, and an everlasting relationship with God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit."

Peace and Grace,

THE GOSPEL OF GOD IS A LOVE STORY THAT TAKES AN ETERNITY TO EXPERIENCE. THE GOOD NEWS IS THE FACT WE HAVE A LOVING GOD THAT DESIRES OUR HEARTS. HIS WORD DESCRIBES THE LENGTHS HE'LL GO TO TO WIN OUR HEARTS. "THE WORD BECAME FLESH AND MADE HIS DWELLING AMONG US" AND THAT'S JUST PART OF THIS LOVE STORY. HIS IS A DIVINE UNCONDITIONAL LOVE THAT DEFIES COMPLETE DEFINITION. MADE IN THE IMAGE OF OUR CREATOR, THE LOVING GOD OF ALL CREATION. HE SPOKE LIFE INTO DEATH AND THINGS INTO EXISTENCE THAT NEVER WERE. ..... AND HE LOVES ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
