Soaking Prayer

In the Spring of 2002, Francis and Judith McNutt led a healing conference at VCC. Francis said to a leaders session that few people are healed at an alter call, but many are healed by regular and continuous prayer, called "Soaking Prayer". The people are prayed for week after week and many are healed this way.

Someone stood up and said, "We don't have that ministry here." Later, Sue Radke, Colen Poepplemeyer and John Myer decided to start one. In April 2002, a plan for such a ministry was approved and training began in July 2002 using the McNutt videos on healing. There we practiced for 6 weeks praying for each other and adding basic teaching on prayer. About 125 people attended at least some of the classes.

On October 8, 2002, we started praying for people. Each person was prayed for by team of three, twice a month. The same team would pray for them, about 40 minutes each session. The team prayed for 3 people each night. We started with 6 teams, we have 16 teams now.

In 2004, Joe Kovalcik suggested we start an Open Healing session on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of every month. Anyone could come for prayer. In the last 3 years, people have come for prayer from Cleveland, Cincinnati, Michigan and all over Columbus; many from churches that don't believe in healing. People form other churches come to the training classes to learn how to develop their own healing teams.

The results are: most people are improved, many are healed, a few see no change. Many have forgiven those that have hurt them and been released from bitterness and much inner healing has resulted.

Probably over 1000 people have been prayed for by the Soaking Prayer Teams. Whatever the results, all is up to God, the Healer. The team's job is to pray.
