Vineyard Counseling CenterVineyard Counseling Center was established on the conviction that the church should provide a professional understanding of psychology (with its strengths and weaknesses) governed by a Christian theology and consistent with Vineyard values. In 1993, under the pastoral guidance of Danny Meyer and Rich Nathan, Mark Sullivan brought his part-time private practice into the church. As the practice grew, Mark transitioned to full-time and in a couple of years Lori Moomaw was added to accommodate increasing requests for counseling. As growth continued, other therapists were gradually added: Vicky Grady, Bob Crawford, Lorie Rees, Rebekah McCaughey and Karis Mason. All of the staff have graduate degrees and are licensed by the state of Ohio to counsel. In addition to professional staff, graduate student interns from Ohio State University, as well as several other schools and seminaries, have received training at Vineyard Counseling Center. They provide counseling for those who lack insurance or the ability to pay. They are supervised by the counseling staff. All of the counselors currently on staff began as student interns. Like the counseling center, other ministries in the church were growing in size and number. It became increasingly difficult to efficiently connect church members/attendees with the needed ministries. Linda Bradshaw joined the counseling center to facilitate intake coordination. With the help of student interns and volunteers that she trained Linda has been able to ensure that needs are assessed and the matched with the appropriate ministry(s). Currently the counseling center serves approximately 100 clients per week while Linda and her student/volunteer team assess and refer roughly 50 people per week. |
